Thoughts on Trevor Bauer?

It's very likely that no one is going to go near this guy for at least 2023.  The Angels are likely the lowest on the list of any team that might even remotely have interest.  No chance they introduce the nightmare of baggage that surrounds him while trying to attract new owners and facilitate what seems will be a bidding war.

100%, at least the Angels part.  They are trying to sell the team.  There is no way they would add a headache and confounding factor into the picture.

The part where I think he's gonna have a tough time finding is the fact that he's completely unapologetic.

Whether he should be or not is between, those women, the league and the attorneys.

I would imagine that any sort of contrition or admittance of wrong doing probably hurts his defense in the lawsuits he has pending yet the only way a team would take a chance on him is if he were to help overcome the bad press by saying he was wrong.  He might, at some point, be willing to do that, but I doubt that occurs while the lawsuits are pending.

And another reason why teams will stay away from him is that there could be other lawsuits lurking.  As we've seen with others under the media microscope, the number of plaintiffs seem to accumulate for a period of time.

He could even sue the Dodgers / his team, as part of the process too.  So any interested teams could potentially have that concern too, I imagine.

more likely the league for setting a certain type of precedent for other suspensions as part of the 'morality' policy and going label with the way he was treated.  My guess is those only happen if he can't get another job.

I'm not convinced he thinks he did anything wrong.

And there were rumored clubhouse issues with him even before all this stuff popped up.

I think he was already unlikeable to many teammates and orgs before, which is partially why Arizona and Cleveland traded him, and now he has even more issues.

It's very possible the Dodgers, or any team, could require him to drop all the litigation if he wants to play. And that seems fairly reasonable if he wants to play again.

Because he didn't.  It's that simple.

I don't have the full story, but from what I've read, I think you're right. Dude is kinky...ok that's mostly legal, though weird but whatever. But I don't think it would even be a thing if Manfred didn't have it out for Bauer in the first place for exposing MLB's ball doctoring problem it has.

Manfred is playing office politics, and Bauer clearly isn't a saint either. Drama.

to me there's a difference between being guilty or innocent and being complicit.  Not sure how the conversation about choking normally comes up but it would seem a bit odd to me that he would find several (or more) women who would initiate that sort of thing without a little 'salesmanship'.

Saying he's not guilty of committing a crime is different than saying he didn't do anything wrong.  The details of consent become important at some point.  Like the difference between choking someone and almost choking them to death.  I doubt there's a survey where they check mild, moderate or severe.

Who are we to judge what his sexual preferences are?  And the only one of these women we have any real details on we know she was setting him up to extort him.  Even if he thought his "salesmanship" game was strong, he was being played.  That makes him the victim.

all of this could be and is at least partially true from what we know.  And I don't disagree.  Although I thought there were a couple of accounts from other women of being choked.  Which, of course, may or may not be true and just another opportunity someone saw to make some money.

My point is that it seems he like to choke women and be rough.  He's likely never going to get another gig unless he admits to that being wrong.  Whether he believes it is or not.

Why does he need to apologize for legal, private behavior?  Because Manfred finds it distasteful?

It's not about if Manfred find it distasteful.  It's about the court of public opinion and the collateral that ensues if you sign this guy.  I am not saying he should or shouldn't.  I am saying he's gonna have to if he wants another job and that's just the reality of the situation.

Well it's shitty that the victim is being judged for being victimized.

And even if there was no extortion, it's legal, private behavior.  I wouldn't apologize either.
