The most iconic play in NFL history

Recommended Posts

"The Catch" - Montana to Clark

"The Immaculate Recpetion" - Franco Harris

"The Drive" - Elway leads the Broncos past the Browns (though it's not a single play)

Alan Ameche scores the winning TD as the Colts beat the Giants for the NFL championship.

"The Ice Bowl" TD where Starr scores on the QB sneak to beat the Cowboys

Lynn Swann's two catches against the Cowboys in the '76 Super Bowl

probably a bunch of others. these are just the ones off the top of my head.

The Music City Miracle.....speaking of which, probably the biggest Super Bowl highlight outside of that Russell Wilson interception on the goal line is that Kevin Dyson catch and London Fletcher tackle at the 1 yard line. Or who can forget the Bills "wide right!" versus the Giants.

For some reason, the NFL uses a Marcus Allen touchdown (when he was with the Chiefs against the Broncos in the snow) when he dove over a pile and the goal line in a bunch of promos over the years like it's an icon play.

Marshawn Lynch running over the entire Saints defense in the playoffs was an iconic play.

Sadly, I think a lot more about the bad calls that ended up being iconic...........there was a Calvin Johnson touchdown in OT or to end a game where he scored and set the ball down that they ruled he didn't follow through with the catch or some bullshit. Dez Bryant had something similar against the Packers in the playoffs. Both "catches" became rule changes. Aaron Rodgers got injured on a hit that changed the rules.

Who can forget The Tuck Rule or the Rams PI against the Saints that both led to NFL rules changes.

The former basically knocked the Jaguars out of the Super Bowl. Had that not happened, they would have played Buffalo at home for the AFC title. That year's team was 14-2, with both losses to Tennessee, then they lost to them in the playoffs. I have hated the Titans ever since. Poetic justice on the last one.
