Watch Arte tell Perry that Thor can't be traded cuz they rake in the marketing cash.

Perry: "We can rebuild our entire farm and be contenders with financial flexibility.... But we need to trade Ohtani, Thor and Iglesias".

Arte: "Have you seen their intro videos? They are the only reason I have fans in the stadium"

Perry: "Yes, but Arte, we need depth and this really helps us get in a great direction"

Arte: "No, i'm making an extra $75M/year from Japan alone in marketing"

Perry: "YOU'RE POCKETING ALL OF IT ANYWAYS YOU ASS HAT".

Arte: "You'r right, let me sign Ohtani to $50M AAV and then we should be WS favorites".....

Why the F would you trade Rengifo? He's exactly what the team needs and has lacked for much of the year: a youngish, inexpensive, quality middle infielder.

Trading Rengifo would be the stupidest thing. He's been given chance after chance, he's finally putting it all together, so trade him? That creates another hole to fill next year. They better not.

Rengifo's peripherals indicate his current success is unsustainable, and this would be an opportunity to sell high.

His wOBA is .321 but his xwOBA is only .297.

His defense has also been suspect:

-4 DRS, -3 OAA, -2 RAA, -3.2 UZR at 2B this season.

0 DRS, -1 OAA, -1 RAA, 0.4 UZR at 3B.

-1 DRS, -3 OAA, -2 RAA, -0.8 UZR at SS.

Relying on Rengifo at 2B/SS could set themselves up for failure again. If you get a decent package, you have to consider it. They need solidified answers, as they already have enough question marks.

I agree with you and also agree that the numbers aren't as favorable as I'd like to see, but he's actually got a ceiling above this.  And I'm not saying he's guaranteed to reach it but the cost on a guy who's performing at his level that's sustainable is much higher than Luis.  So I think you need to take the chance that it can be sustainable.  Again, I am concerned about the risk and he's a perfect example of why you need depth.  But I wouldn't trade him unless you are getting something well beyond his anticipated value.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I'm not saying offload him for whatever you can get, but I think you gotta be open and willing to deal him.

He's certainly better than guys they were running out there before like Villar, Wade, and Mayfield.

Saw that Toronto is also interested in Iglesias. I hope this isn’t a “take Raisel for the price of Noah” move. Iglesias’ contract does look bad now, but surely we can eat some money and get some value in return.

You honestly think Moreno is going to trade Iglesias after he signed him to a big 4 year deal when he didn't trade him last year when he was going to be a FA?

BTW, a lot of contenders and non-contenders moving parts around.  Relivers, bench guys.  Borderline starters.  Future pieces.  Etc.  There's some creative stuff going on.  Red Sox got a really nice prospect for Velasquez and then gave up almost nothing for McGuire.

I'm not saying the Angels should be making moves just to make them, but it seems that teams are willing to be active.  Your current team is a shit house mess.  Maybe try some stuff to help improve.
