Maybe in a literal sense. But I had my own place in my 20's. I actually worked the same job I have now, at least for a couple years. 

No savings or retirement to speak of. Still living paycheck to paycheck. Except now my rent goes to my 67 year old father.

That does suck, but it's better that money goes to your pops than some landlord.

I always suggest finding new jobs. Changing jobs, especially now, can net you a much higher salary vs. getting meager raises every year.
