A lot of people seem to be retiring in the Carolinas lately from what I’ve seen. Wondering if there are tax advantages to those states, or maybe it’s just a housing cost/climate/amenities thing. I’ve only been out there once in the Asheville area with an ex visiting her family. It’s kind of meh to me personally. Feels like the Midwest with Kudzu and an accent really.

My wife's friend, a retired teacher, recieves about $900 more per month from her pension moving from California to North Carolina.

It’s not like Idaho levels where everyone is retiring in Boise, Meridian, or Eagle but there is a growing population and pretty diverse. It does kind of remind me of an east coast Idaho the more I think about it with how its exploded. Kind of a combo of cost of living, growth, expansion, opportunities, etc.

I liken the explosion to when their bbq got in the map and was at leas tin the conversation with KC, Texas, and Memphis.

Loved Asheville, NC but we're looking at Greenville as a possible destination. As well as areas in South Carolina, Nashville, TN.
