Ward was having a solid year.  Top bad he had to be sent down.

They obviously believe Eaton was better and it's better to have Ward get get everyday ABs.

I would have kept him up as 4th OF and release Legares.  Better bat off the bench.  Plus he could play 3b and 1b as well.

Why do we still have Mayfield on the roster?

The timing of all this makes Minasian’s decisions easier regarding the trade deadline.  Bring up Detmers and Rodrigues, trade Heaney, release or trade Buddy, release or trade Claudio, bring up Barria.  Trade Raicel only if there is really good return. Bring up the best relief pitcher we have in SLC.  Then, let’s see what we have for 2022 with a fully functional offense backing them up.  I would be hard pressed to think it would be worse than what we have now….

Lagares could be traded.

That's just the circumstance the Angels have in the outfield. Marsh is MLB ready and will be playing RF once Trout returns. Eaton is already proving his worthiness of being on the roster in an active capacity, likely the 4th OF one Trout returns.

It's just the depth we have right now. Ward could play 3B but he isn't a great defensive option there and Mayfield is fine with the glove at 3B.

Taylor Ward has a 3-hit game this week and everyone forgets how they wanted him sent down for the longest time.

No, not everyone.  Many but I do not think it was even in the majority.

20 at bat slumps are common in the mlb.
