Wouldn't it make sense to just put La Stella on the 60 day IL? Is it customary to just keep giving guys 10 day ILs? Stella will be out for at least 2 months.

Not until absolutely necessary. You never know what might happen, like Simmons’ quick recovery. Probably some deeper procedural/financial/insurance/service time reasonings I’m missing too.
