5th starter only needed once until September 16

On September 5, the 5th starter will be needed.    Scribner has to be out of the equation.    Start Chavez and follow with Petit, and hope they can give them 7 solid innings?

I think they need one on September 5th.  Play Texas on the 1st (Skaggs), 2nd (Heaney), 3rd (Scribner?) and A's on 4th (Bridwell) and A's again on the 5th - which is too early for Skaggs to go again....Then from the 6th to the 15th they only need four starters...so Richards could go on the 16th when they need a 5th starter again...please please please let it be so!!!

Plus, rosters expand soon, so we can do things like Richards for a few innings, and then nolasco/scrib for a few more innings to try to create one competent starter.

And I think we can forget about J.C. for the year....

With expanded rosters, we can go with a "bullpen day"....worked fine in 2014 when Richards go hurt and Rasmus started, went 3 or 4 innings....

There's always Barria, if they can easily clear a 40 man spot for him.

Even if he threw just 60-70 pitches in about 3 different September starts?   Given his previous workload before 2017?

Scioscia said yesterday the Angels aren't skipping anyone with Thursday's off day. 

Looks like Scribner has one more start before Richards could come back. 

In September, though, you have the luxury of a very quick hook, so it's not like any starter is going to be allowed to stay out there and single-handedly lose a game by allowing 5-6 runs.
