I looked at the standings that year and they didn't start getting into it until about July. Pretty good for a World Series team that year.

So our optimism hangson the solid examples of two teams in the last 40 years? That's awesome.

This team isn't going anywhere, except maybe lower in the standings. Unfortunately, they'll probably have enough fun moments here and there to give us the occasional glimmer of silly hope.

AL West should be especially easy to get into the wildcard because every team gets 18 games against the Ast...

I cant imagine a greater level of futility than being swept by the Astros...

 

I dont see how there could be a lower point than that during the season...well, unless the Angels end up with the worst record in the AL.

I could see this happening by Friday. hypothetically:

 

Astros complete the sweep because the Angels have a tendency to not give Vargas any run support, I see him pitching a gem for a loss.

Angels lose with Hanson pitching against the Sox

Rangers have a fluky bad outing and the Astros pull off an upset to win.

 

The third component is a bit unlikely, but so far this season has been a bit of a perfect storm cluster**** situation.
