I think we should start every game with the bullpen first. That way we can get a good gauge on how many runs we are going to need to win the game before we put in our shutdown starters.

To expand on this:

 

Trout

Hamilton

Pujols

Trumbo

 

- Trout back to leadoff where he belongs

- No better way to see more fastballs than Trout on base and Pujols behind him (assuming Pujols stops sucking)

- Trumbo stays at cleanup where he's more than earned his keep

 

I'm sure this 1-4 has been suggested more than once here, but it's odd that Scioscia has yet to try it.  It gets him Trout/Hamilton/Pujols bunched together like he wanted without awkwardly slotting someone who is no better than the 5th best hitter on this team into the leadoff role.

He was actually starting to steal successfully prior to his injury.  He also gets on base.  Those are qualities you want to see in a lead off guy.

Unfortunately as long as Trout is batting elsewhere, the leadoff options all kind of suck for that role.
