But 50-odd points of that come from walks and I thought you claimed walks are "a false start"?

Doc already claimed his OBP percentage was the result of his batting average. So which of you two shoots the other in the head for ruining your little troll, trolling.

Really you guys, your arguments are getting sillier every minute and meanwhile the only guy being consistent here is the guy you are trying to ridicule.

Yeah, any sensible discussion goes right over your head.

Trolldaddy made a simple and factual statement but you guys have to try and beat him down. In the end you are the on looking like the stupid trolls, so just keep it up, it's entertaining.

lol. Keep yelling at that cloud, it makes you sound really "sensible".

For the record, do you know it's literally true that his OBP is mostly the result of his batting average, as Doc said, (276 points of the .355 if you want to be precise) but that a not-insignificant amount of it came from his walking (79 points)? Keep acting like those things contradict each other if you wish but given that just isn't true, it probably isn't a wise path to go down.

what else could his obp be made up of, other than walks and hits? other than sporadically being hit by a pitch, how else can a hitter get on base?

Outside of you looking incredibly stupid I have no idea what this means.  Calhoun is not a one dimensional "role player".

lol yep was just about to say this. Calhoun can field and hit for power, plus he runs okay and can hit for contact. He is an above average starting right fielder. That is not a "role player".

I don't think you can truly assess him with sporadic playing time at multiple positions. He's better off to start the season at Salt Lake than to do that. Depending on who they get for 2B the team will be extremely right handed. Better off to deal one of Cron, Marte, or Escobar in the search for pitching.

Except that it's not often that a younger player with a mid-upper .700s OPS starts next season in the minors.   Usually that's when they will try to continue to give him more chances at the MLB level.

Give me a break.  Neither of your examples are good examples.  At least if you would have mentioned a one dimensional guy like Dave Kingman it would have made sense.

And Escobar doesn't even produce much power.  He is just a shade over being a singles hitting 3B who can't field or run very well at all, and has struggled to be a solid teammate.   The more I think about it, $7 million is a lot of cash for that.

Missed this before - but yes, obviously that is the case. I was just ribbing Troll Daddy by pointing out the irony of him quoting a player's OBP when he constantly says "walks are a false stat".
