Reagins was in charge of the minor leagues when they were rated #1 in baseball. He probably should have stayed in that position but how do you pass up an offer to be the general manager of a major league team? That promotion created a void in both positions.

Well yeah, obviously in his position you have to accept the promotion offer. And I don't think the Angels were particularly silly to offer him the job, he seemed qualified and it was reasonable to offer it to someone in-house given Stoneman had set the system up so well. But sometimes people who seem qualified actually aren't and that's what we saw.
