Not to mention the Indians have so much talent under long-term contractual and club control. Kluber, Carrasco, Ramirez, Zimmer, Salazar, Encarnacion, Kipnis, Diaz, both of their solid defensive catchers.... list goes on and on and on. They've really done an incredibly sharp job of signing their core guys long term combined with a rich influx of Minor League talent. Really superb organization top to bottom. They deserve a lot of what they have got.

On July 19, the Indians were 14 games behind Houston for the best record and 3 games ahead of the Angels. Now they are 1.5 games ahead of Houston and 14.5 games ahead of the Angels.

The 1916 New York Giants went 26 games without a loss (25 wins and one tie). That was in September. They also had a 16-game winning streak in May.

Incredibly, they finished in FOURTH place in the National League. Their record outside of the two streaks was 44-66.

I could actually see Arizona catching them for the division. Nine games back at the moment, but with the Dogs in free fall there's a chance.

Dodgers will go to the playoffs no matter what, but as a wild card? That would be an epic collapse. Can you imagine the tension in their dugout as they face single-game elimination?

It would be beyond awesome if they had to face the Cardinals for a 1 game playoff and Kershaw lost to them.

I agree it would be awesome to see the Dodgers lose the division. But no way that's happening. The Dodgers are too good to keep playing this way much longer, and the Diamondbacks would damn near have to win out to make it close.

The Diamondbacks have lost two of four and both games were winnable.  Rodney gave up 6 in the ninth for one of those losses.
