Hellmuth is a great player, but his style leads to a lot of volatility because he slow-plays the shit out of everything, trying to trap his opponents. When it works, it works beautifully, but when it fails, it fails miserably for him, and beautifully for his opponents. It also makes opponents want to beat him, which helps his game in the long term. But in the short term...

The hand in the WSOP with Dragomir pretty much was going to end like it did, with Hellmuth praying that he didn't have aces, and then telling the world he thought Dragomir had AQ before reraising pretty much narrowed his hand range to one possibility: AK. And Dragomir flopped the pair and took advantage of Hellmuth broadcasting his hand...

Not as familiar with Schwartz, but it looks like he has a similar style, right down to the tirades. No way he can call J Till's raise on a 4-flush board with nothing but top two.

Damn, this reminds me how much of a love/hate relationship I have with poker.

vegas, it's hard to say what people will watch. my wife and i like to watch home improvement shows even though we live in a rental house and can't do anything to it. i also like to watch those shows where they build treehouse homes or these $200,000 swimming pools.

there's no accounting for taste from any of us, really.

One day, Tank is going to just disappear.  A few years later, we will find him in a tree house in the Angeles national forest, with a huge swimming pool lake (which is what is going to give him away, since there are no lakes in CA anymore), eating berries.

I still keep in touch with Derek. He's still out in Vegas playing cards and doing really well. Ironically, the last time he put a package together I invested and he got 4th in a pretty big tournament.

I don't play like I used to, but still follow the poker world pretty close. Since moving out to OC I've been to Hawaiian Gardens quite a bit, but not in a few months. Probably down a little in the cash department, but my roll is in the + because the last tourney I played was a Sunday regular they do and got 5th.....still peeved with the amount of chips I had, huge ICM blunder.

I miss it, I enjoyed playing full time back in the day.

That will mean I'm retired and no longer have to deal with crap from jr. high kids and their parents. Sign me up, GB!

I have never understood craps. If you were in a casino and heard a lot of yelling, odds are that it came from the craps table.

it's great because its all math.

you don't need to try and "read" the guy across the table in knock-off raybans and an nba jersey.

also if you know how to bet you can get the best odds in all of vegas.

but you have to bet though. the people that walk up to a table with $40 or $100 might as well just hand it over to the casino and head to the buffet.

$40 no Ten

Or $40 no Ten with  $22 inside
