Escobar had three 5 hit games in 2015.

He's much better player than people give him credit for.
He has hit .288 or better 5 times in his career.

2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 are seasons he would like to forget.

Lets not forget that in 2011 he hit .290/.369/.413/ .782

Except for 2012, he has never had a OBP lower than .332 & his career OBP is .350

It's a solid move, yeah it hurt to give up Gott but you have to give to get. The option was pretty much to give up a first round pick, go with the rookies at 3rd, or trade Santiago for a mediocre option. We have some OBP and a decent amount of speed in front of Trout, Calhoun will be fine in the 2 hole. Now we need to focus on some real protection behind Trout (Upton) and if they can, go grab a 2nd baseman.

My 'problem' with this move is the line of thinking that went into it. It would have been much better to bring back Freese than it was to give up Gott. This was a rearranging of the depth chart from bullpen to third base more than an addition per se.

It does make us better but we can't improve this team in the long run through arbitrage. Our only option is through capital investment.

I'm still trying to find the complete list of at least 5 hit games in 2015.  The season record is 4 though, and it's shared by Itchiro Suzuki (2004), and Tony Gynn in 1993.

Along the way, I found this interesting list of multi hit games for 2015.  Cespedes was 4th with 57.  The highest Angel was Calhoun (44), one ahead of Trout (43).  Pujols had 42.  Ben Revere had 49.  Escobar had 49, and he was 20th.  It's an interesting list.
