It's 3 days into April.  And everyone is still playing spring training games.  April 6 will be the first Angels game.  April 5, the first MLB game of the season.  

 

Just seems odd to me.  Come the start of April, I usually expect the MLB season to be in full swing.

Now that Jeter is retired, MLB postponed the season until Hamilton decision was rendered.

Yeah, since we won't see Derek Jeter, we were all too depressed to start the season in late March.

Odd that they wouldn't start the season this last Sunday.  Get the season in before the rainy delays of November.

MLB has decided to start the season later to avoid bad weather conditions, to the extent possible, back East and in places like Chicago.

 

apparently the powers that be got tired of watching field crews clearing snow off the ground in Chicago and other places and decided to start the season a week later.

 

not sure how MLB is going to feel when the World Series Game 7 is played in November in freezing weather.......

 

a better solution to the problem may have been to modify the schedule slightly to have the early April games played in warmer climate areas to the extent possible.

 

oh well..........MLB obviously knows more than all of us............

2009 opening day wasn't until the 5th or 6th. It happens based on the year and days of the week.

Also Toronto has a retractable roof.

Have every team play 1 DH a month.

That shortens the season by about a week.
