You really think the Keystone Pipeline is the reason gas has insanely shot up in the last couple weeks?

it's obviously a combination of things. but the fact that he shut down a valuable and productive pipeline and won't reopen it during a time of international crisis is a failure of leadership, and you and i are suffering at the pumps because of it.

To blame not adding an additional way to transport Canada's extremely expensive to extract and refine tar sand oil as a reason for massive price hikes seems like scapegoating for the simple minded

Pence group launches $10M ad buy pushing American energy production amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s policy and advocacy organization launched a $10 million ad campaign Monday, targeting multiple congressional Democrats and pushing for American energy independence amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

"In order to set the United States back on a path of energy independence, we need Congress to stand up to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and stand up for American Energy," Pence said Monday. "It’s time for President Biden to demonstrate American strength by restarting the Keystone Pipeline, restoring oil and natural gas leases, and issuing sanctions and imposing embargoes on all oil and gas exports from Russia."

Pence has a PAC that has $10m it can spend on commercials? There is way too much money in US politics.

If that's the case, then $7/gallon gas is coming by Easter.

When oil shoots up, gasoline immediately follows. When oil goes down, it takes months for gas prices to decrease.

Chevron stations here were stuck at $4.79 for many months as oil dropped from $83 to $65 and then back up. After the oil price hikes of this past week, Chevrons are charging $5.69, up 90 cents in the past few days. Chevron made record profits last quarter and their stock price is at an all-time high.

There are some ARCO's holding the line at $4.99 but that won't last long.

Now the Costco is at $4.99.  A 20 cent jump from yesterday.  Yikes.

So you can wait in a 45-minute line at Costco for the same price you can get at ARCO.

Smart.

Of course, I haven't yet seen ARCO's pricing today. Still on my first cup of coffee. It very well could have jumped overnight. I filled up yesterday.

I'm wondering if the price jumps at Costco are because they sell so much gas, that they need to refill sooner.  IE the new gas coming in is super expensive.  Thus, their prices are now jumping over other stations that fill up once a week, and haven't had the sticker shock yet.
