One of the silliest awards.  The LA Sports Awards might be more legit.

They have to give it to somebody. 1 in 15 chance at the start of the year.  Only two or three times in the wild card era has the manager of a non playoff team won.  You can generally rule out Yankees or Red Sox managers because they are expected to win games.  So, two manager of the year awards for Scioscia in fourteen seasons isn't all that meaningful.

Anyone who watched him manage during the postseason should be able to tell what a farce this win is.

The Angels had one of the highest payrolls in baseball with some amazing talent this year. Would Scioscia have won this award had he been managing the Twins?

Would it suddenly become meaningful if Joe Maddon won it?

Yost literally cost his team the Division Championship.  The Royals are winning despite him.  He's a liability to his team and all the writers and managers know that.

During the wild card game Yost gave away tons of outs with moronic bunt attempts. He also very nearly cost them the game going with the rookie starter, Ventura, on short rest in relief when there were other options available. Since then though their pitching has been nearly Yost-proof.

Definitely well deserved.  If only his players had bothered to show up for the ALDS.

I would have like Campana to show up on teh roster instead of Hamilton. Look at how instrumental Dyson and Gore have been to the Royals as pinch runners. But thanks to Mike "Arte says Hamilton is too expensive to sit" Scioscia, it wasn't meant to be :(

Ha ha, what do other managers know anyways.

Classic, I'm sure the other managers didn't watch any post season baseball.

"Fans know more!!!!"

Payroll certainly helped Scioscia out when Skaggs and Richards went down for the season.

The Twins stink, have no talent to compete and no manager improves their lot this season so thanks for the idiotic strawman argument.

How about this, Scioscia manages the A's this season, do you think they take a three month dump to lose the AL West title?

Shoemaker pitching like an ace and Rasmus putting up zeroes certainly helped. Not to mention the shutdown pen that Dipoto gave him.

That's the point! The Twins stunk and had no talent. Had Scioscia been managing the Twins he would not have won this award because managers don't win this award while managing teams devoid of talent.

And Beane would never hire someone like Scioscia to begin with.

well no ****ing shit dude. But managers do get awards for taking a team full of holes and guiding it through to the division title.

When you look at the rotation for the last 6 weeks he had Weaver and Shoemaker then three days of frying the bullpen. The last 4 weeks he lost Shoemaker and the team still didn't collapse.

Meanwhile up the road the A's couldn't pull their heads out of their assets and Melvin certainly didn't win any awards hitting every iceberg along the way.

Just pull your head out for a while and take into account, real account, what Scioscia had to do the entire season. No other manager thought he did anything less than a miracle while other teams in the division and around the league did far worse with far more real resources.

Lol. Methinks you're giving a wee bit too much credit to a man who sits on his ass in the dugout and too little to the actual players who, you know, actually played on the field.

This award is only given to managers managing teams full of talent. That's a fact. You will never see a manager win this award if their team is devoid of talent. This award really means nothing.

and yet you were one of the loudest critics of Sosh during the playoffs, blaming him for the loss.
