FO: Please don't make a short-sighted panic/splash move

I'm tired of the huge contracts being handed out to players on the down-swing, just so we can get some big name on our roster for the next year.  No more massive contracts to just get that player for the next season, if you're going to hand out a big deal or trade a lot of talent, do it for someone particularly young and still in their prime, even if they're somewhat unproven.  This is the added misfortune of the Angels getting beaten in such an embarrassing fashion, in that it can potentially lead to some short-sighted reactionary moves this off-season by Arte and co.

I think the only moves the organization said it was looking to make were ones to bolster the team's bench strength, and starting pitching, this per an article on the team's official website.
