2014 First-Year Player Draft Thread

Recommended Posts

From PG:

"Alex Abbott is a 2014 OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Tifton, GA who attends Tift County HS. Angular athletic build, good present strength with room for more. 7.24 runner, very good arm strength, on line accurate throws, good footwork on throws, can work through balls more cleanly and quickly, right field tools. Left handed hitter, straight stance, moves into contact well and uses his lower half, good bat speed, has some lift and power potential, loose fluid swing, stood out in batting practice, has the hitting tools to really develop, follow closely. Verbal commitment to Florida."

I'm not too crazy about this. They'll probably convert them to starters, but I would've rather see some position players drafted in those rounds.

Why?   This is said to be a very pitching rich draft, why would you have the team pass on the strength of the draft to get guys who would have likely been there anyway?

Sansing on Way:
"Bo is a very talented outfielder that has the arm and speed to play all 3 outfield positions for our team.  He is an extremely competitive player and a tough out every single at-bat.  Bo will bring two years of college experience to our program and should be able to use his athleticism and intensity to immediately contribute to our team."

“They are good up the middle. Bo Way is a good player for them. He’s not your typical 4-hole hitter from a physical standpoint, not a huge kid, but he can really run and probably hitting over .350 this year. He’s a baseball player.

Because there was position players on the board that I felt were better picks than a reliever like Rhodes. Just my opinion

And you know this because you've seen them play and have a better understanding than Ric Wilson and their scouts?
