Janay Rice apologizes for getting the crap beaten out of her. In one of the worst analogies ever in a press conference, especially given the circumstances, Ray Rice said, "Failure is not getting knocked down, it's not getting up."

If she was violent towards him then certainly she did something wrong. Of course it doesn't in anyway excuse, justify, or well anything else I can't think of to somehow put him in a better light. Hopefully if unlikely they are able to move on and actually move towards something positive.

The drugs/pot suspensions were part of the CBA so those were agreed upon by both parties and set in place until this CBA is up. That said, other infractions should be based upon these already in place suspensions. The NFL is basically saying that they are more serious about getting pot out of their league than they are wife beaters. Nice message Goodell.

The sports radio guys here were going off about this very issue Thursday afternoon. If you get busted with weed, you're kicked out of the league for up to a year, but beat a woman unconscious and you sit for two games.

Yeah, I think most people know it is a part of the CBA.

 

It says a lot more about the NFLPA and the NFL that their negotiated penalties for violent crimes aren't as harsh as drug penalties.

In fairness, there's probably way more issues with drugs than with spousal abuse for the players.
