Dipoto just now on XM radio said Hamilton will be out at least 4 more weeks and Calhoun 4 to 5 weeks. He mentioned Grant Green might get called up to play in the OF after he he gets more practice at that position.

Hamilton is lifting and conditioning but hasn't swung a bat yet (still has the cast on) and KC is rehabbing in Arizona but still has a boot on according to Jeff Fletcher. Still about a month until they're back. Man, end of May sounds soooo far away.

Calhoun must have really jacked his ankle up.   Nice to see the team looking for ways to get Green's bat up.  Cron leading the PCL in 2Bs while ranking 5th in HRs is a nice insurance policy for Ibanez.

So far Cowgill is holding his own. He got robbed twice I yesterday's game. Both cost us runs as it turned out. Defensively he has made a few major league plays.

I predicted beginning of June for both, still looks close to accurate.

Hamilton's cast is off and is working out on the field with the team.

Said he hopes to be back in 2 weeks.

Worth noting

• Outfielder Josh Hamilton (surgery on left thumb) expects to have the cast removed from his hand by the end of this week and will partake in baseball activities (throwing, swinging) next week.

"He's ahead of the curve, making a lot of progress," Scioscia said.

Hamilton underwent surgery on April 11 to repair a complete tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in the thumb. His timetable to return was set at six to eight weeks.

• Outfielder Kole Calhoun (sprained right ankle) played catch before Monday's game. He sustained the injury on April 15 against Oakland, when his ankle rolled over just after he cleared first base while running out a grounder.

"He's out of the boot and walking around, but he's still sore," Scioscia said.

ON THE MEND: Josh Hamilton had the cast removed from his left thumb, 17 days after surgery to repair a torn ligament. He is a little ahead of schedule in his recovery, and the Angels hope he can return in about three weeks.

Personally, as much as I want his bat back in the lineup, i hope he doesnt rush back and have something linger.
