Seems to be getting a lot of playing time and deservedly so. Perhaps some room on the 40 man was cleared for him? Has Scioscia, Dipoto, or Servais said anything about him in terms of where he is on the depth chart?

Good showing today from him, Romine, and Cowgill. Bench battle starting to pick up!

You always look for the guy that puts up the incredible ST #'s.  Long going 4 for 5 today with a double and a triple looks like the guy this spring.  Batting .500 is great.  Green going 2 for 4 with a stolen base keeping his average at .429.  The big surprise for me has been the average and power of Iannetta.  I know it is just spring training but .455 to date is great for an Angel catcher.

He reminds me a bit of Jeff DaVanon - he can do a little bit of everything and would be a solid 4th outfielder.

long can hit 1.000 and he still wont make the team.  schuck will make it even though he doesn't provide any value to the team.  no speed, poor defense, no power,

Well, I was going through the roster trying to determine who makes the final 25 and unfortunately for Matt Long , the Angels are awash in OF'ers......all of whom are probably going to make the club.

 

Hamilton, Shuck (LF), Trout (CF), Calhoun (RF), Cowgill, Ibanez (OF/1b/DH)  that's SIX.

 

Long getting a LONG look but likely at SLC.

 

In addition Halos have Pujols at DH/1B and it looks as it's possible Carlos Pena could make the team as a non -roster guy but with 6 OF'ers, I don't think we have room for Pena unless Cowgill doesn't make the 25.

I'm just not excited about Pena except he is a better fit for our needs - someone to play first when Albert gets a day off or DH's.
