Since the Angels don't have a true backup CF, I'd love for them to pick Spoon back up on a minor league contract if they can.

 

Spoon has some pop, tons of speed and plays an incredible CF defensively.

 

Mariners designated OF Travis Witherspoon for assignment.

 

Seattle claimed Witherspoon off waivers from the Angels in October, but the 24-year-old has now been kicked off the 40-man roster to clear space for Corey Hart. Witherspoon struggled this summer at Double-A.
