At the very least, this off season stands to be very interesting. 

 

Limited budget potentially being up against the CBT

Lot's of pitching needed with most position players in play for trades

A high end Asian pitcher about to get posted

Not much farm system to play with

A new Trout contract

Under performing and injured players coming back to form. 

Questionable front office/management friction or philosophical issues

 

Gonna take a fair amount of creativity and quite a bit of activity to round this group into a more well rounded squad and I am looking forward as to how they proceed.  Honestly, I'm kind of excited.

Here is the corrupt end of the Competitive Balance Tax (CBT). It is not a fund that is split amongst the lower payroll teams or even divided by all teams under the threshold to make the competition balanced in any way.

• 50% is used to fund player benefits
• 25% is used to fund baseball development in countries that don’t have high school baseball
• 25% goes to the Industry Growth Fund

Are we all reading that last line correctly? It is funneled right back to the MLB offices to use any way they see fit. Built in slush funds. So I would not blame Moreno one bit if he didn't want to pay for MLB execs to spend a week in Las Vegas playing golf on his dime.
