Leave it to Microsoft to change things all around again.  The tile format is silly especially for a server product.  I am trying to get a server configured now for SharePoint 2013 and I am about to toss it out the window.  As an administrator I want my server to be functional and convenient.  Not the case with 2012.  I am dreading the moment I have to open IIS.

OK, done with my little nerd rant.

Bought my wife a laptop about a month ago.  She used it for a couple hours before asking me to install Windows 7.  Win 8 is a pile of crap.  Totally counter intuitive.

Lots of tech guys don't like Windows 8 because of what you are complaining about. It seems like they need server/admin software and user software instead of forcing either to live in worlds they don't belong in.

Microsoft is trying to push admins to use Power Shell for everything.  I don't want to have to script everything I work on.  It is a waste of time.  I installed 8 on my test machine at my desk and it truly does suck.  It will never be adopted into the corporate world.

I felt like it was more than that.  They created a mostly tablet UI and system... that is fine for tablets but why on a laptop with a 1920x1080 screen would I want "apps" that display full screen.  Computers are about multitasking, Windows 8 totally abandoned that logic and made it an afterthought.  It is just such a moronic platform.

It was easier to reformat to Windows 7 than to change all of the file associations to run actual applications than stupid mobile style apps.  Not to mention the lack of a start menu.  I would imagine a lot of people are really afraid for their jobs based on the community backlash.

I played with 8 on a Slate and it was great, for a tablet. But for a daily workstation it would be annoying as hell. I get they needed to move on and also have a one source operating system for mobile and work but this is just not it. It feels like you are working on the demo version of everything and need to upgrade to the fully working software at some point.

Go figure. It seems that Microsoft blows it at least every other OS.
