I'm not the positive type, but it was good to see hanson at 92-94 a lot of the game. Maybe the velocity was up because he hadn't pitched in a month, but it was still nice to see

That was totally bizarre.  He hasn't had fastball velocity like that since the first half of 2011 where he had 103.1ip, 109k, 2.44era, 75h, 35bb.

 

I know it's way too early to get make assumtions, but could change the entire dynamic of the rotation and frankly the mentality of the process for 2014.

 

That turns him from a 4/5 into a legit #2, and if you re-sign vargas and dump blanton while bringing in either the cuban kid or trading trumbo for a legit middle of the rotation arm, then that's a rotation I can feel pretty decent about.

Best stuff he's shown in a few years. Consistently sat at 92-93 and located his fastball with precision.
