Angels trade Jimmy Herget to the Braves for cash

He’s white Jaime Barria as a reliever.

Odds are he gets called up in September or earlier if he does well at AAA and they have injuries. 

Herget had a decent spell a couple of years ago but regressed last year. As a lefty with a funky delivery and little velocity he needed excellent control. And didn't have it. But in the Braves system coaches may tweak something. 

Maybe he shows up in a playoff game, gets one out and salvages his career. 

He wasn't a major asset obviously but should have brought back a lower end prospect or a late draft pick. Cash doesn't do anything for the roster.

Atlanta cleared something like 12 spots off their 40 man in the off season. I’m guessing they had a spot on their 40 man, and gave the Angels a very small amount of money for Herget.

Read your posts including your reasons for thinking Herget had value.  Ultimately none of them mean anything if teams don’t think Herget is any good at this stage of career.  Which we know they don’t considering he didn’t make our team nor was called up at any point and no team was willing to give up any asset for him
