Gameday Thread (4/22/24): Orioles @ Angels: Detmers on the mound, Adrianza at 2B, Schanuel leading off

Boneheaded baserunning mistakes aside, Jo Adell has legitimately been phenomenal this year.

His statcast numbers show an expected batting average of .315, and expected slugging percentage of .478.

With 2 HRs and 5 SBs in ~35 ABs, you could extrapolate those figures for a full season of 600 ABs and estimate that Adell would be on pace for 30 HRs and 75 SBs over a full season.

While these numbers would probably be wildly optimistic, they do show that his small sample size production at the start of this season has been truly elite.

I've busted his ass for the last 3 years, but he is ready to go.

You can see it in his swings, his demeanor, and his maturity on the field.

plus, he has cut way down on the strike outs.

His swing looks a lot shorter

The stance is a lot different compared to the past two years. Much more athletic and his hands aren't as far away from the plate, both of which I think are helping him react to pitches more quickly.

Suarez remains possibly the most baffling story on this team. From a very useful sub 4.00 ERA in 2021 and 2022 as a 23 and 24 year old.... to a complete nightmare. What the hell happened.

he sucks. have no idea why he hasn't been let go

Well the reason he hasn't been let go was in the post you quoted. He was very solid as a 23 and 24 year old in 2021 and 2022.
