Rengifo was named player of the week. Baseball is a funny game.

Yep. He extended his hit streak too tonight.

Coming into tonight's game he has hit safely in a career high 12 straight games (previous high was a 10 game hit streak from June 29 - July 10, 2022).

Over his last 14 games, he is batting .442 (23/52) with two doubles, one triple, four home runs and 12 RBI.

regnifo did the same thing last year when the season meant nothing...until he can show he can put up numbers when the games matter he is just an average player...

Fangraphs and Baseball Reference have different numbers on exit velocity for some reason, but regardless of which would you look at, it confirms that Schanuel is getting weak contact.  81.4 mph avg exit velocity on B-Ref, 82.6 on Fangraphs.  B-Ref has the major league average at 88.6 mph.

EDIT: Also, 62.5% ground ball rate vs. a 42.2% average.  Lol.  Yes, it's super early, but need to see these patterns change pretty quickly.

I wonder what Rod Carew's or Tony Gwynn's exit velocity was.
