At this point every time they activate someone from the IL, it’s going to go down a little bit.

I can’t off the top of my head think of a way it could go up.

But maybe someone has some kind of bonus?

Every time a player goes on the IL it could go up, right?

Because then a replacement making league min gets added.

So if they had a COVID outbreak like the Reds are having now, I suppose it could go up.

I think someone mentioned it, but maybe the Angels DFA someone like Suarez or Barria - maybe even re-add Phillips or Walsh and DFA later - in hopes someone claims?

They’re probably close enough that they don’t need to jump through all these hoops though.

They could do all that, if they wanted.

No one claims Barria, so that won’t save anything.

In theory, they could:

• Bring up Walsh, Fletcher, and Phillips (who are all on guaranteed contracts) and option players making league minimum.

• DFA Suarez and Quijada, who are making $750k, figuring someone will claim him and save like $200k-$250k total.

And I wonder if releasing Warren would save them money, since he’s pre-arb making league minimum.

Wouldn’t have to do this if Grichuk didn’t have a .500s OPS here, and thus would have been claimed too.

Thanks Grichuk

I was a little surprised he wasn’t claimed….but his salary (10 million pro rated) was just not worth it, I guess…Renfroe hasn’t been much better but he is a pretty consistent power guy, although not as much this year…Grichuk’s power has really dropped for several years..
