Which players get claimed?

I think everyone except Renfroe will be claimed.  I'm 70/30 Grichuk will be claimed, he's a versatile fielder albeit not great, with an average bat, so a team that needs a better bench RH OFer option will put in a claim.  Starting pitchers with proven track records get picked up and Giolito is no exception.  If Lynn and Thor can get traded during terrible seasons this season, Giolito can be claimed. Relievers that can throw gas are a hot commodity, all of them will be easily claimed.  Renfroe is the one that's highly doubtful to be claimed.  He's an average bat that's very streaky, a terrible fielder with a plus arm.

To be clear, these are outright waivers. 
 

If a guy is claimed, the other team gets him and his entire contract. Period. 
 

If a guy is not claimed, his original team can outright him, but it doesn’t have to. Players with more than 5 years service time can refuse the outright and keep their salaries. 
 

There is no pulling someone off waivers.

Saw somewhere that maybe we'd start hearing things this afternoon....that would be 48 hours after the reports surfaced on Tuesday....so I guess that  is when the window closes...

I think players acquired after Aug. 31 won't be eligible for the postseason.

Unless they replace an injured player, noteworthy example was K-Rod being called up in mid-September 2002 to replace injured player, and still being eligible for the post-season.

The teams that got the players will find out around 10 am PT. But those teams won’t necessarily all announce them at the same time. Some may need to do something else first to clear a spot. 
 

So it’ll be announced over a few hours.

Weird, Cleveland isn't a playoff team.

Renfroe is heading to his sixth team in six years. I bet he's hoping to sign a long term deal this off-season with one team as a FA.
