Making 15th pitching start of the season and eighth at home, Shohei Ohtani makes his first career start against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. 

The reigning A.L. Player of the Week will make his 15th career pitching start while leading the Majors in home runs as a hitter. Leads the Majors in opponent batting average (.178), ranks fifth in strikeouts (105) and is ninth in WHIP (1.05). Earned the win in last start on Thursday at Texas after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Has allowed one-or-fewer earned runs in seven of 14 starts this year. Since the start of 2022, leads Majors with 14 games with 10+ strikeouts.

On the pregame show Bobby V just said that watching Ohtani hit on his pitch days is like watching Sinatra perform on his birthday.  
 

really, really has me thinking about what’s going on with my life that I’m watching this.  Very sad.  Very bleak.
