Angels extended lack of production from SS

Maybe the best Angels shortstop for the money has been used as a utility player and that position isn't one of need. 

 

 

His OBP was .294, his BB% was 3.3%, and his defensive metrics were horrible at SS (-2 DRS, -2 OAA), but sure, just go off of HR’s.

His sporadic time at Shortstop was early in the season. He's a bit of a work in progress but at least there is something there to work with instead putting Squid out there and having another black hole in the offense. 

Miasian isn't getting much money to work with this year so at least use what we have until either he sticks or there is a budget in 2024 to improve.

First of all, he's a second baseman.  He's played 58 of his 322 games at SS.  

Second, his slg% was .429 this year which was behind seasons by Kendrick, Grich, Kennedy 

Third, he accumulated 1.6 WAR in 511 PA this year.  And you compared him to a SS with over 6 WAR in 700 PA.  

Rengifo is a nice player.  But slow your roll.
