Then, Moniak gets hit and is injured while the Angels go on to strand the bases loaded, 0 outs opportunity.

Swung and the ball hit his left hand on the bat.  Right on the fingers. Same hand as before.

@Jeff Fletcher why did Nevin leave Moniak in vs. the lefty instead of using a right handed pinch hitter?

If the answer was defense, that was a spot in the game to add on and lessen the need for defense.

So whats your point?  Was this anyone's fault that Moniak got on base via HBP?

Man, hate to see Moniak go down like that. It’s not often you see a major leaguer in tears. 
 

Part of his off season regimen should include a lot of practice time on keeping his hands out of the way of the ball when he’s hitting.

Pinder has replaced Canha as biggest douche.  The a's always seem to have at least one.

Its likely Nevin wants to give him opportunities to produce and maybe gain confidence but its not wrong to wonder why you wouldn't bring in a better hitter in that situation.  Moniak has an OPS of .237 vs LHPs.... Brutal doesn't even touch that level of awful.

Only 7 games left after tonight and none have playoff implications, so I don't think it's an issue.  Run Adell, Trout, and Ward out there every day.  If you lose one of them for some reason, stick Fletcher (assuming he comes off the IL), Stefanic, or Duffy out there.  It won't really matter at that point.

Nevin likes to not over manage and let the guys play.  He is not as much into saber metrics as some.
