Let's revisit his offseason moves.

- He released Justin Upton. Meanwhile, his replacement, Brandon Marsh, is hitting .246/.295/.347 with an 85 wRC+, but 0.5 WAR due to good defense. J-Up is doing OK in 5 AAA games (.897 OPS, 2 HR) for Seattle.

- He "bolstered" the bullpen, giving contracts to Iglesias (4/$58M), Loup (2/$17M), Tepera (2/$14M), and Bradley (1/$3.75M) - or $24.5M for those four this year, and over $30M for the bullpen as a whole. That's about two-thirds the total payroll of both the Orioles and Athletics, and possibly the most expensive bullpen in the majors - or one of them. The results are: 0.2 WAR, 25th in the majors; 4.30 FIP, 26th in majors; 4.29 ERA, 23rd in majors; 13 blown saves tied for most in the majors.

- Signed Lorenzen for $7M. 0.8 WAR, 3.69 ERA, 3.85 FIP. So that's good value.

- Signed Syndergaard for $21M. 0.8 WAR, 3.69, 3.81 FIP (almost exact same as Lorenzen). Not so good value, but not horrible.

- Re-signed Suzuki. Why?

- Signed Wade, Duffy, and Velazquez. OK, I guess? Velazquez is great defensively but can't hit. Wade and Duffy have their moments, but are bench guys stretched in the roles they've been given.

As of this moment, the only move he made that seems to be good value for the money spent is Lorenzen. Everything else has yielded mixed, at best, results, and some really bad. The bullpen is a disaster, Syndergaard has been solid but unspectacular, Upton's replacements haven't performed, and the bits and pieces are OK, but not good enough for what they're being used for.

Minasian will have the full season, I'm guessing, but if the Angels don't turn it around and at least make things interesting, I'm guessing he's gone in the offseason.

And one of the worst farm systems in MLB (again) after Eppler started to really turn it around

Need people from Tampa to help fix this mess. Will take years but a rebuild must start. This team has fallen apart 7 straight seasons. Same questions this off season and repeat of last 7 seasons next year.
