OC Register: Angels’ Mike Trout listed as day to day after being hit in hand by pitch

Recommended Posts

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Angels got a scare when Mike Trout was hit in the left hand by a pitch in the fifth inning of the Angels game on Sunday against the Texas Rangers, but initial X-rays were negative and Trout is listed as day to day.

Trout was hit by a 3-and-2 slider from right-hander Spencer Patton. He was attended to by a trainer for a few minutes before leaving the game.

Trout had gotten off to a good start in the first 10 games, hitting two homers with a .972 OPS.

Last season Trout played in just 36 games, missing most of the season with a strained calf. He was back to 100 percent over the winter, and he said that he had a new workout regimen to help him avoid injuries.

Brandon Marsh is likely to play center field in Trout’s absence, with Jo Adell and Taylor Ward on the corners.

More to come on this story.
