It’s not too early.  The projection was for a healthy Ohtani to not surpass 100 innings.

Do you really think at this point there is any way a healthy Ohtani does not surpass 100 innings this season if he has logged 59 right now?

The only way he doesn’t get there is if he doesn’t stay healthy.

Not too early at all.

Well it's kind of hard to take health completely out of the equation. If not for health we'd have Ohtani pitch just about every inning of every game. Maddon pulls him early from games for health reasons.

It's very likely they pump the brakes on him later in the year to manage his innings. He might have another bout of fatigue that causes them to give him a couple of weeks off. Who knows. The more innings he logs the more likely he is to experience a sore arm. If this team isn't playing meaningful baseball in September it's very possible they hold him back for 'health reasons' that don't involve an actual injury.

I do agree it's quite likely at this point that he surpasses the 100 inning mark but how far he goes beyond that we shall see.
