They aren’t rebuilding in any case, so regardless of what happens this year or whether Eppler stays, they’re going to stay the course whether they have confidence in it or not simply due to lack of alternative options.

I agree. This current era will basically live or die depending on whether Canning/Sandoval/Heaney/Suarez/Barria ever turn the corner and Ohtani stays healthy, since they're all fairly young and we're not going to go in a different direction. Past results indicate no, but there's no alternative.
