So you don't think it stands to reason that illegal immigrants from higher crime committing countries, would be more likely to commit crime when their very act of immigration into the country itself is a crime? Just sounds like common sense to me. I'm sure literally every single illegal immigrant has nothing but pureness in their heart.

the rest of your post that started with this? That after the outstanding logic above went on to copy and paste some paragraphs from a heritage foundation op-ed article? A commentary that cherry picks stats without context isn't proof.

And to add a cherry to the top...none of this actually has anything to do with what was being discussed in the first place, which was legal immigration reform.

The numbers don't lie, you can ignore them but the facts are the facts.

And i'm not that one that brought up the "Mexico isn't sending their best" comment. I simply cleared up what that statement actually meant and then you challenged the claim.

Since Trump is getting his first physical as president.  Does anyone think it will turn up anything?  People like to say something is wrong with Trump.  But what if there is something wrong with him.  Just thinking of what he may have.  What do you guys think?

The reason why this resonates with, funny that you would want to limit it to the left...but ok, it's not the language itself but what it speaks to.

The idea that whole classes of people, people of color or from these "awful" countries, are somehow tainted because they come from these countries. That they aren't worthy of entry into the United States as compared to a person from a Northern European (re: "white") country.

This is at the heart of Trumpism and his policies and the decisions they have made. The continual statements that looked like they are ripped from right wing comment sections (Mexican immigrants are racist, countries aren't sending their best, countries are purposefully sending their criminals, whole sections of cities where people can't go, etc). The travel ban, cancelling DACA, ending TPS, etc. This worldview is at the heart of the merit-based migration they are speaking to, which sounds beneficial on the surface, but when you look at it closer is really designed to keep immigrants from shitholes who have had less opportunity.

The immigration debate really speaks to us about who we are as a country, or rather, how we see ourselves as a country.

The country has a right to choose to let people in who they feel are compatible with our values and society, and can grow our economy instead of coming over and being a burden on the economy.

But of course you have to turn it into a morals game.

And this is especially important when we're in debt 20 trillion dollars. We're going broke saving the world.

How does one go from being a hardcore socialist to a fiscal hawk? Lol

You don't have firm positions on the issues. You adopt your views based on the current populist you root for. Isn't the reason you said you supported Trump is because you thought he would crackdown on government corruption? It's pretty clear by now that he doesn't give a shit about that.

But you really can't have it both ways.  The more successful socialist countries have much tighter immigration control than the U.S.  You cannot have a free flow of immigrants and a socialist system.  It just doesn't work.

By reading and learning with an open mind. You should try it some time.

We have sh*thole cities here in the US.  And guess who runs them? Dems.

Anyone want to live in Baltimore, St Louis, Detroit, Chicago?

These sh*thole countries are mentors to Dems. No wonder they're acting offended.

Good grief, there are great places that vote blue and that vote red.

Just more divisive politics.

San Diego use to be a beautiful city (I was born there), . It is a tent city now, with a Hepatitis A epidemic. So is L.A. San Francisco, etc.
