Griffin Canning

Dylan Bundy

Patrick Sandoval

Athletics:

Mike Fiers

A.J. Puk

Astros:

Justin Verlander

Zack Greinke

Lance McCullers

Jose Urquidy

Forrest Whitley

Mariners:

Marco Gonzalez

Yusei Kikuchi

Justus Sheffield

Justin Dunn

Kendall Graveman

Rangers:

Lance Lynn

On paper, I think Texas has the best rotation. The A's have tons of question marks but we all know they'll be good. Houston has the highest upside, but at some point Verlander and Greinke are going to break down. Them losing Cole is huge.

I think as it stands, our rotation is 4th. That definitely isn't good, but I think the division is very strong pitching wise.

Ryu would probably make us 3rd.

A few things...

1. Add AJ Puk to the A's rotation. They'll be scary good on the mound.

2. Add Forrest Whitley to the Astros rotation. They too will be scary good on the mound, as long as father time does not take Verlander and Greinke from this career.

3. Right now, we may have the weakest rotation in the West. It's is probably a little more steady than Seattle's, but they have more upside.

No way is our rotation right now worse than Seattle.

Luzardo, Puk, Manaea, Montas. A's rotation is legit

Yep. Despite what ESPN would have you believe, the A's tanked for three straight seasons, finishing last in the division from '15-'17 and trading away every asset (like Zobrist, Reddick, Rich Hill, Doolittle) for prospects (like Manaea, Luzardo and Montas). It has paid off the last couple of seasons but I think you are going to see the full benefits of it in 2020.

Lots of question marks on both sides.  For us it’s relying on Ohtani to be what he showed in 2018 over the course of a full season, Canning/Sandoval/Suarez taking a step forward, Teheran/Bundy performing to expectation, and Heaney staying healthy.  For them it’s Kikuchi improving upon his first year in the majors, Dunn and Sheffield hitting their potential, and Graveman performing well after returning from TJS.  Could go either way IMO.
