Pitching Dilemma 7/26/2019

Recommended Posts

I bet Bridwell is coming up tonight (Tropeano’s 25-man spot, Mejia’s 40-man spot). But the pen is fresher now so if he just goes 3, that’s fine. Cahill and Noé should each be able to go at least 2.

Then Bridwell gets DFA’d and Bard or Jewell (whoever’s 10 days is up) comes up on Sunday.

JC probably gets activated on Tuesday and fills that 40-man spot (Mejía/Bridwell) and Bard/Jewell’s 25-man spot.

They will need a 5th starter again on the road trip so that’s when they’ll add Peters/Heaney/trade acquisition. I’m not sure who goes then. Could be García.

Not the same thing

The results are pretty similar.  Barria had a 3.5 ERA last year and twice that this year.  Bridwell had a 3.8 ERA (something like that) and has been less than good since then.  So no it isn’t the same thing because one is young, but both depend on almost perfect execution of pitches based on not having overpowering stuff.  They both are smoke and mirror guys.

Today the Angels have made the following transactions:

·         RHP Noé Ramirez – Placed on 10-day IL with viral infection (retro to 7/24)

·         LHP Dillon Peters – Recalled from Salt Lake

·         RHP Nick Tropeano – Optioned to Salt Lake

·         RHP Jose Rodriguez – Selected to Major League Roster

Lmao

bridwell is a terrible journeyman. Barria can carve out a solid career as a #4/5 starter at least

Remember the part I said about results.  2018 Barría is 2017 Bridwell.  You can argue it.
