Pitch Sequence or White?

It's funny how it seems like there's no in-between for anyone here on this board. Doug White either magically works or he doesn't. Max Stassi is supposed to be good the moment he puts on an Angels uniform or is a total failure.

Y'all realize all of these folks are human beings, right? Not a video game? Not a computer simulation? Just because Doug White has an armful of data or ideas or processes doesn't mean it's going to be 100% effective from Day One.
I'm sure White's picking Stassi's brain about what Houston has been up to as well. It's a process. All of this is. It takes time. Maybe it clicks one day, maybe it doesn't. These guys aren't going to learn a new skill or how to process new data and apply it right out of the gate.

We should be encouraged the organization is trying things like this - something, anything - after a decade of basically doing absolutely nothing to evolve brought us to this point.
And that's not a testament to analytics or advanced data either - fact is, the Angels org really didn't seemingly do much of anything to adapt after their '02-'09 run of success. It's obvious that timeframe was where they got stuck on their laurels and figured it would keep working, and it took them until Eppler's hire to realize that. That applies to analytics, scouting, coaching, roster development, minor league coaching, drafting, amateur scouting, international scouting...they just didn't do much for years to progress any of that.

Well Totdprods,

1. White magically works or doesn't. HE had all of pre season and right once he signed up for the job to be able to go into each pitchers video and break it down and give advice for whatever he saw prior to they even arriving in AZ. email and cellphones are a cool thing to do this with today. You can even text a video of a guy and point out some issues... IT has been done, I've watched those videos with a couple of guys.

2. Actually, regarding Stassi... I read a few people on here and even an article that Stassi was a outstanding defensive catcher and was White's hand picked guy from Houston. Hence he knows exactly what White wants the pitchers to do and gives White another voice to communicate what he wants to do. Of course a few starts for experience with the pitcher is required this isn't a beer league team. But, having been there a catcher can pretty much figure it out based on your release point, grip and your tendencies to over or under throw certain pitches within an extremely short period of time. The only difference Lefties break to the right handed batters box. Righties break to the left batters box.

3. You speak of muscle memory... That's true to a point it takes roughly 2500-5000 swings for a young hitter (NOT AT BATS) to perfect your swing including breaking it down via slow motion rotation exercise. As a pitcher coming up through the ranks 400-500 innings is sufficient as most aren't completely torn down and built back up mechanically today. IF the velo is there they work on grips and slight adjustments regarding release point to get a fluid repeatable motion to hopefully curb shoulder and elbow issues in the future. And guys work out and work on their game even prior to showing up for SPT.

At some point you have to consider more than just our pitcher's sucking. Both Sequence and tipping are two other qualities to think of. Has anyone else noticed how the opposite, and there hitter look so comfortable against our pitchers  especially the off-speed stuff?  This basically tells me a few things, the opposite has done a great scouting job, our pitcher are tipping pitches or sequences. personally, i've come to tipping and sequence has a big part of the disastrous pitching season.

Sequence's are a big part in this. Seems to me that the league, has adjusted to our sequence, while we have not made a change. basically our sequence is this, high Fb, followed by a slider inside.
