D.Fletch 1.0

Yeah.  I know the comparisons to Eckstein are supposed to be complimentary, but other than being under 6 feet tall and the fact that they are both infielders, I don't see a lot of smilarity.  Oh, and making contact, I guess.  Fletcher is a much better and more versatile defender.   Fletcher has pop.  Time will tell if he can keep this up, or something close it, but  I'm optimistic.  He is the kind of hitter that I think we will see more of in the future, succeeding in this shift hungry, strikeout prone environment.

I agree with all of this. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite players on the team.

Eckstein was incredibly cool to many people I know who have met him, so consider that maybe your experience was an exception.

Easily one of the most approachable and engaging players I have ever seen.  He always took time for the fans before every single baseball game and at spring training, etc.  He's easily one of the all-time best when it comes to giving time to fans.

My nieces (probably 12 and 11 at the time) once met Eckstein in an elevator at a hotel prior to a dinner event of thousands of people.  He was super cool and they kept telling him how bummed my nephew (9 or 10 at the time) was going to be that he missed meeting his favorite player.  Eckstein told them HE would make sure to find THEM later so he could meet my nephew.

Eckstein kept his word and went looking for, and finding, my nieces that night to meet my nephew.  He didn't just meet him, he hung out, took tons of pictures and signed everything.
