RIP Bart Starr

The only quarterback to lead his team to five titles in a decade.

He was 85 years old and had been in poor health since suffering a stroke in 2014.

Rest in peace.

One of my longterm memories is the 1967 Rams/Packers game at the Coliseum, same day the Queen Mary docked in LB.   Rams were 9-1-2, and the Packers were 9-3.

Bart Starr and Roman Gabriel battling it out, with the Packers taking a 24-20 lead into the last minute of the game.  After the Rams burned their timeouts and forced the Packers to punt, the Rams' Tony Guillory blocked Donny Anderson's punt and Claude Crabb returned it to the Packers' 5 yard line.   Then after an incomplete pass by Gabriel, Bernie Casey caught the winning TD pass with about 25 seconds to play. 

On that winning TD pass, I'll always remember Dick Enberg yelling "The Rams are jumping up and down like 13 year-olds!"

R.I.P. to a great leader, Bart Starr.   He mirrored Lombardi on the field.
