More about Radbourn:

He didn't always pitch, but sometimes played the outfield. On August 17, 1882 he hit the first walk-off home run in a 1-0 game in baseball history when he connected in the 18th inning off a pitcher named Stump Wiedman to give Providence the win over the Detroit Wolverines.

Another fairly obscure player and one of the best baseball names ever:

Lip Pike

He was one of early baseball's true sluggers, and actually hit six home runs in a game in 1866 for the Philadelphia Athletics of the old National Association.

The final score of that game was 67-25. The first Jewish ballplayer, and the first player to be acknowledged as a professional who was paid.
