Connor Van Scoyoc debut for the AZL tonight.

11th round pick that cost the Halos about 400k (125k max for 11th round so over slot by a fair amount).  HS kid from Indiana.  6'6", 210 lb RHer.  Age 19.

was 88-92 when drafted.  main secondary pitch a slider.

didn't pitch last year.

tough first day.  2ip, 2h, 5er, 3bb, 2k, 2WP.

Jerryell Rivera still yet to give up an earned run although command erratic

5ip, 1h, 1r, 3bb, 5k.

It looked like he had totally forgotten how to pitch last year - at Orem, 9 IP, 16 H, 14 ER, 18 BB, only 3 K - so this is pretty encouraging.

I honestly thought HalosHeaven crumbled after Rev Halofan got fired from SBN a few years back.

They were crumbling well before that.  SBN had offered several Angels bloggers to take over the site and every one that was offered turned them down. Then the Hamilton incident happened and they doubled back again and got the same no's as before and were desperate enough top ask writers for those blogs, and still got the same answer. They were simply going to "disable" the site before a few members banded together to lead it. But they were warned to keep it as vanilla as possible otherwise they were done.

It's cool to see them still kicking but the internet doesn't forget. Even if they make the news for the right kinds of things, the Hamilton fiasco will always be the one thing they caught headlines for.

Was this the psycho dude who went on that Josh Hamilton rant?

Yep. He was the creator of HH.

Back in 2009, he tracked down my boss and tried to get me fired. Right after his blog was passed over for AngelsWin.com to blog for USA Today for the Angels during the  Yankees &  Red Sox playoff series, plus write a feature column heading into the playoffs.

if Martinez starts hitting for power in any way, he becomes a legit prospect.  like top 100 legit.

not saying his 2nd hr in two games means that's where he's headed but with launch angles and such, I am sure it's something he's working on.

He's also played CF in most of his games this year.

Jose Verrier is a 21yo Cuban signed as part of the 2017 intl class but at the very end so he didn't play until last year.  Came in as a CF prospect but word had it that he'd move to a corner.  Supposed to have good PD although he whiffed 69 times in 180 at bats last year with a .609 ops.

Some power potential.

They've actually had him playing 2b and 3b so far.  as they did last year.  6 errors in 6 games so far with 3 at 2b tonight.

Hector Yan hasn't allowed a hit in his last two outings.

5ip, 1bb, 5k
6.1ip, 4bb, 7k

and for the second time in as many starts, burlington loses the no-no with 1 out in the 9th.

Looked up his last game before these two to see how many straight innings he's gone without a giving up a hit. It was only the last 2 batters he faced and he struck out both.

So across his last three games 12 straight innings without allowing a hit

IP 12 H 0 ER 0 K 14 BB 5

Walks have improved over last year, but still walking too many 5.1 BB/9 (6.1 BB/9 in 2018). Strikeouts are way up 12.6 K/9 (8.8 K/9 in 2018). He's only 20
