Will the pitching health EVER stabilize???

Also heard on the MLB network this AM that Manfred THOUGHT he had an agreement with the MLBPA about adding a 26th player next year and then reducing the number of September call-ups. This was partly because of all the injuries but also because of all the position players that are now pitching in blowouts. But MLBPA backed out, after seeming to be in agreement.

The MLB net hosts say that between 1992 and 2006, 55 position players pitched, TOTAL. This year there have already been 56.

I wouldn't mind them raising it to 27, it would lead to more bullpen changes but if they make it so players can't call time anymore or added a pitch clock it'd reduce the length of games.

Depending on which one or two players you add, it could really effect the teams salary cap. Unless the MLB raises the cap to allow for more players.

Alot of AL teams would add minor league relievers making salary min to the 26 & 27 spot while the NL teams would add an extra PHer & 1 reliever.

They did that last off season.  It is the players, not the staff.

Instead of 27 man roster make it 29 but only 25 are active for any given game.  You would essentially make your previous 4 starters unavailable that day.

The announcers made it sound like it would be a push in terms of how much more it would increase team salaries. Or at least close enough that the owners were on board with it.

Mickey Lolich is being interviewed right now on KMOX in St Louis, talking about a new book. Interesting fact he just stated; he never put ice on his arm after a start. He always applied heat after a start. He did it because he got advice to do that from some guy named...........Satchel Paige. He told Mickey your body is full of heat, why shock it and cool it down?
