If making trades is a challenging process that goes through so many approvals and are a miracle to even happen, how is someone like Dipoto making so many trades? Wouldn’t the different departments tell him that they can’t afford any many more minor league currency and stop him? Or are certain people brought in by GMs because they’ll say yes?

We never really hear too much about the trades that didn't go through. Hard to gauge how many failed trades there are in comparison to successful ones.

Jerry just may be on the phone so much and firing out so many offers that it is his shotgun approach and risk tolerance "looseness" that generates such a large quantity of trades.
