I didn't realize Seattle is 9-5.

Yeah...We have a big enough window that it doesn't matter a ton at this point, but if they keep that up, this year might be tricky. The better the rest of our division is, the more narrow our path to the playoffs gets...

Angels are now 3 games up from the second place team. Oddly, they are 3.5 games up from the Astros.

Astros started 8-2 after 10 games. They are 2-5 in their last 7. (1-2 Twins, 1-2 Rangers, 0-1 Mariners).

Angels started 7-3 after 10 games. They are 6-0 since. They lost the opener, in extras. Then they lost both of JC Ramirez's starts, as he gave up 7 ER in 6.2 innings. They won Parker Bridwell's start, even though he gave up 6 ER in 1.2 innings pitched. The Angels have used 9 starters, but the other 7, have given up 8 runs in 4 starts (RIchards), 3 runs in one start (Heaney, Shoemaker), 3 runs in 2 starts (Ohtani), 3 runs in three starts (Skaggs), 1 ER in 1 start (Barria), and 0 ER in 1 start (Tropeano).

The Angels starting ERA is 3.84. The Angels current six-man rotation, (including Barria), has an ERA of 2.47. The only thing wrong with the current group of starters is that they are averaging between 5.1 IP and 5.2 IP per start. That needs to be closer to 6.1 to ease the work on the pen. They have allowed 36 runs from the starting staff.

The Astros starting ERA is 2.63. They have only used 5 starters, and only one has an ERA over 4 in Lance McCullers (7.71). Keuchel is at 3.52. Verlander, Cole, and Morton are at 1.35, 1.29, and 1.00 ERA's respectively. They are averaging slightly over 6 IP per start. They have allowed 51 runs, 34 of which are from the starting staff.

Pens have been good for the Angels and good for the Astros. Angels relievers have allowed 19 ER in 69.2 IP, or roughly 1.19 runs per game. Astros have allowed 16 ER (17 R) in 50 IP, or roughly 1 run per game ERA of 2.88. Angels BP ERA is 2.45.

Yet the Astros have 7 losses, mainly because they have scored 35 runs less which is over 2.4 runs per game less. They've scored 68 runs in 17 games or 4 runs per game, whereas the Angels are averaging 6.43 runs per game.
